Invitation to 2012 Cuboree
On behalf of Nicomekl Area, we would like to personally invite the 6 Areas of Fraser Valley Council (Coho, 3 Rivers, Fraser Cheam, Three Timbers, Nicomekl, and West SurDel) to the 2012 Cuboree/Camporee, to be held at Camp McLean on the weekend of April 27th to 29th, 2012!
While many details are still be sorted out, we can tell you that the theme, as chosen by our Area Sixers' Council is "Video Games"! It will be a two night Camporee, if Packs wish to camp. Nicomekl Area will organize a campfire both nights, and Scouts Own on Sunday, but otherwise camping Packs will be responsible for their own food, gear, and activities.
Information in regards to registration, cost, times, and the badge design should be posted on the Fraser Valley Council website by the end of December. An email will be sent to all registered Cub Leaders when this happens.
Our big request is that each Area run at least 3-4 stations for Cuboree, based on the theme of "Video Games". Our Area Sixers' Council came up with a number of suggestions: Mario Kart or Pokemon Dash chariot races, Pac Man marble maze, Mario Bros obstacle course, Space Invaders bottle rockets, Missile Command bottle rockets, Asteroids volley ball, NHL hockey (shoot on the goalie), Rock Band campfire, Dance Contest, Call of Duty rubber band guns, Tony Hawk Skateboarding on teeter boards, Joust or Gladiator Fight with pool noodles, Frogger dodgeball, Pac Man Streets and Alleys game, Summer and Winter Olympic games, Ghostbusters?, Wii Sports (darts, bowling, tennis, archery), Angry Birds with slingshots and boxes, Fruit Ninja with water balloons/beach balls, Plants versus Zombies (dodgeball), Tron cycle races . I'm sure all you're minds are running wild with ideas for stations and decorations (ie: use refrigerator boxes to make arcade games)!
Once you are committed to running a station (or 3-4) ;-) , please send us an email with a description/name for your station, so we can plan a site for it at Cuboree. We would like to have a list of stations ready prior to our next Cuboree Planning Meeting, which is scheduled for February 29th.
Thank-you. We look forward to seeing all of you "in the mainframe" at Cuboree!
Yours in Scouting,
Ed Brierley
