Youth Awards

In addition to recognition awards for adult volunteers, Scouting youth are also eligible for recognition awards as well. These include a Fraser Valley award called the Commissioner's Commendation. In addition, there is the National Medal of the Maple and  Scouts of the World.

The Commissioner's Commendation is for youth that have performed good service to Scouting. The write-up form can be found at www.westsurdel.ca/content/honours-awards, and submitted to the DAC Recognition.

Honours & Awards

Are there volunteers in your group that haven't received a Scouting recognition award in over 5 years? Here is your opportunity to have these leaders recognized for their ongoing efforts. Recognition shows the youth and parents that these volunteers are recognized and may help with the recruitment of these parents.  In addition, by takiing the time to perform this important task, you may also assisting with retention of existing leaders.

Attached is a .dot (Microsoft Word Template) form to support this initiative. Please fill it out and when complete, email it to Andrew Tuline, the DAC - Recognition for WestSurDel (atuline@gmail.com).

Section quality awards

Not only can the youth earn ‘badges’, but the leaders can as well.

“Formal recognition is through Scouts Canada's Honours and Awards program. Appreciation and admiration for the hard, dedicated work carried out by adult volunteers in Scouts Canada is shown through specific awards. Youth and adults participating in the program who show high character and courage, gallantry, meritorious conduct or outstanding service to Scouting are recognized through specific honours. We encourage you to initiate the process for an award for volunteers whose dedication and commitment inspire others to 'do their best'.”
