Tents for Uganda

We did it!

A huge thank you to the Leaders and Groups in the Fraser Valley Council – particularly those of WestSurDel.

Today, 22nd January, we delivered no less than 35 serviceable tents as well as several sets of spare poles, shock cord and other spares to the Rotary World Help Network, who have agreed to ship them in the next few weeks to the Scout Group in Mityana who had appealed for help.

Thanks also to the many Scouters who responded to the request for help and advice on shipping the tents, which eventually came up with the best price of all: “free”!

In my almost 30 years as an adult member of Scouting, this has definitely been the most challenging “good turn” I’ve ever been involved with, and I trust the many others who helped make it all come together feel as rewarded by the experience as I do! We eagerly await news and photos of the Ugandan troop using their new equipment to further enjoy their Scouting experience.

Yours in GLOBAL Scouting,
Kevin Ward
