WestSurDel MedVent

Fellow Scouters,

Please pass this information on to your Venturers and Rovers and Advisors or those that will be next year.

As was mentioned at the WestSurDel Area meeting Thursday evening-and for those of you who may not be aware-21st Surdel in North Delta is up and running with a MedVent Company. We are pleased to be going into a partnership with BC Ambulance which has been instrumental in getting us started. If you would like more information on this exciting program, please contact me.

We are currently looking into the details, but there would appear to be no problem with staying with your home group and joining our Company as well. The 21st Surdel MedVents are planning on meeting Monday nights in the fall. The MedVents will meet every second week and our regular 21st Surdel Venturers will meet on the alternate Mondays as needed.

We will be the First Aiders on site for Cuboree and Beaveree. I am planning to host a radio session beforehand which is part of the requirements to achieve the basic level for MedVents. If you would like to join or Company or help in getting a MedRover Crew going as well let me know. This is an awesome opportunity if the youth have any interest in the medical field.

Also, if anyone has any events or camps coming up where we can assist, it would be appreciated as all our MedVents require hours to achieve their qualifications.

YIS,

Greg Lukan

Group Commissioner

3rd Boundary Bay BP Banquet

February is a special month for Scouts and Girl Guides worldwide. Each year both movements celebrate February 22, the birthday of the founders, Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his wife, the World Chief Guide, Lady Olave Baden-Powell. This is a time of celebration for both world‐wide youth movements as we honour our heritage, and recognize the empowerment we give our youth members to be the leaders in our communities. This year, 200 Scouting members from 3rd Boundary Bay Group and Guiding members from Tsawwassen District came together for the first time to celebrate Scout-Guide Week! It was a wonderful evening of fellowship, delicious food, fond memories of the year and fun with the youth during our indoor campfire.

Become a member of these world-wide organizations today! scouts.ca & girlguides.ca

Council Project Report for August 2011

In the past Scouting year we have spent a significant amount of time working with the Van der Linden foundation, on preparation and the execution of various projects. These projects began as feedback from a conference held in the fall of 2010, where all members of the Fraser Valley Council were invited to give their input into the future development of both Camp McLean and Camp Whonnock.

To enable these projects a lot of discovery work had to be begin, i.e. Water, Sewage, and Hydro Capacity. It was determined a BC Hydro upgrade was necessary for any upgrade of Camp McLean. The Van der Linden Foundation was approached and a donation of $142,000 was received for a hydro upgrade of all buildings. Barney Dohm was accepted as the General Contractor and organized the upgrade.
